Come al solito, prima cerco sul web, tento e ritento, leggo il datasheet, poi posto la domanda che non trova risposta. Ma quanta potenza massima può sopportare questo cavo?

Actual difference between "mini RG-8 coax" and RG213 include:

mini-8 (aka RG8X) is .240" diameter; RG213 is .405" diameter.

mini-8 (aka RG8X) has a cellular polyethylene "foam" dielectric material; RG213 has a solid polyethylene dielectric material.

mini-8 is built to no standard or specification; it is an "amateur/CB" cable only, not used by other industries or by the military; RG213/U is a mil-spec cable used worldwide by various services, including the military.

mini-8 has a velocity factor between .78 and .84; RG213 has a velocity factor of .66.

mini-8 has a dielectric breakdown rating of 300 volts DC, or 212Vac; RG213/U has a dielectric breakdown rating of 2500 volts DC, or 1768Vac.

mini-8 has a maximum operating temperature of 55 degrees C; RG213/U has a maximum operating temperature of 80 degrees C.

mini-8 can use *any* jacket material the manufacturer chose to use, since this is uncontrolled; as such, most manufacturers use Type I PVC or polyethylene, which is not tolerant to ultraviolet radiation and breaks down when exposed to sunlight; RG213/U is a Type II product, using non-contaminating jacket material which is highly tolerant to UV exposure.

mini-8 is much more flexible; however it is also much more fragile. If you tightly tape mini-8 (using standard electrical tape, in overlapping layers) to a metal mast, boom or tower leg, and then run a few hundred watts of RF power through that cable, it is pretty much 100% guaranteed to flash over and break down where it's been taped, due to compression of the dielectric material. If a 200-lb man steps on min-8, the place where it's been stepped on is very likely permanently damaged. RG213 does not have this problem.

I wouldn't use mini-8 for a "transmission line" outdoors, or for any permanent installation. It's very handy for temporary installations, indoor patch and jumper cables, etc.

Ma l'Aircell 7 ? Mi parebbe migliore.

Per la potenza, l'RG58 regge almeno una 3cx800, io direi che basta

Questo passaggio non mi è chiaro, anche traducendo con google. A parte che sia più fragile al calpestio, va be', ma la prima frase di questo paragrafo non l'ho capita.

Perché no? l'aircell 7 è sicuramente migliore, ma se non sbaglio ha il centrale unico ed è molto rigido. Il mio cavo discesa è praticamente a vista, ed è proprio brutto vederlo spiegazzato, come è adesso l'aircell 5, attualmente messo su.

Troppo pesante non più essere altrimenti, per i metri che mi occorrono avrei potuto mettere anche un cavo più costoso, mi interessa che sia poco visibile, ma non proprio l'rg58 che ho abbandonato da un pezzo. Prima se ne trovavano di buoni, adesso si prendono certe fregature acquistando online. Ne ho una ventina di metri che conservo in attesa di smaltimento migliore.

mi pare dica che se nastri stretto stretto il cavo al boom o al palo di supporto e spari un po' di watt, corri il rischio che 'spari' e vada a fare un arco ... questo per una eccessiva compressione del cavo foam stesso... a me pare eccessivo questo passaggio, ma non conosco il coax in discussione.... se così fosse, direi che la portata max di questo cavo non si avvicina nemmeno a quella del vecchio RG58.
